What is Modem?

Technically, modem is an abbreviation for 'modulator-demodulator'. You need one modem at your home or office, linked to another modem in the telephone exchange, to receive and transmit high-speed digital signals over your copper cable phone line. Your service provider may provide or recommend a particular modem.
