Parents and Teachers

As the everyday use of technology grows, there’s an even greater need for more broadband information. It’s important that we understand enough to be able to keep our children safe - particularly regarding their use of the internet and mobile technology. The internet is a great tool for entertainment and education, but our children should be just as aware of the dangers online as they are of those on the streets.

  • Teach them not to give out personal information about themselves or anyone else.
  • Teach them to be as careful about strangers online as they are in the street.
  • Never let them meet people they have only met online unless you, or someone you trust, are present
  • Be open and talk about how they use the internet.
  • Let them know that they can come to you if they become uncomfortable with anything that happens on the internet and you can help.
  • Put the computer somewhere where you can always see the screen.
  • Ask a sales assistant about the internet and parental controls which are available to help manage your child's internet access.
