What is Optical cable?
Whereas copper cable contains copper wire, optical cables contain optical fibre; a kind of wire which carries light instead of electricity. Put very simply, it consists of a glass tube which light rays can bounce along inside. You have probably heard that optical fibre can transmit much more data than copper; this is because one optical fibre can carry many more data streams at the same time. Optical cable is rarely used in the home or office network, as its capacity would be overkill for such situations.
